With roots dating back to 1947, we’re more than just dry cleaners — we’re your local, family-owned experts in professional garment care, committed to delivering exceptional quality and service.
Two Locations, One Commitment To Excellence
Shallotte Cleaners and Southport Cleaners operate under the ownership of Allan and Cindy Cheatham, who bring decades of hands-on experience, leadership, and community spirit to the business. Each location operates under its own name but shares one philosophy: top-tier service with a personal touch.
Meet The Owners: Allan & Cindy Cheatham
Allan and Cindy Cheatham have owned and operated Shallotte and Southport Cleaners since 1997. Their partnership, in business and in life, reflects the values they bring to every part of the company: honesty, service, quality, and connection.
Allan is a seasoned industry expert with over 50 years of experience in dry cleaning. Known affectionately as a “forensic garment scientist,” he’s solved some of the most challenging cleaning and restoration cases, including rust-stained wedding gowns, historic military uniforms, and antique quilts. He is a Certified Wedding Gown Specialist, DLI-certified, and an active member of the North Carolina Association of Launderers and Cleaners (NCALC), where he previously served as president.
Cindy, the heart of the customer experience, is deeply involved in both the business and the local community. She is a charter member of Women in Philanthropy and Leadership for Brunswick Community College, and a member of the General Federation of Women’s Club of North Carolina. Cindy also leads fundraising initiatives for Lower Cape Fear LifeCare.
Together, they’ve built more than a business, they’ve built relationships. Married since 1987, Cindy still says one of the best perks is never having to iron.

Allan and Cindy are committed to giving back. Through programs like Coats for Kids, Relay for Life, and Coats for the Homeless, they provide cleaning services for those in need. They also clean American and North Carolina state flags at no charge, and offer complimentary pressing for military funeral flags.
